Giannis Predicts Heat Will Be 'Nightmare' Defensively for Opponents During 2026-27 NBA Season
Miami Heat forward Giannis Antetokounmpo believes his new team's defense will be a "nightmare" for opponents to attack this season, per comments made to ESPN's Hannah Storm in a preseason interview alongside center Bam Adebayo.
"I think defensively it's gonna be a nightmare for whoever try to play against us," Antetokounmpo said.
Adebayo also noted how teams might have problems on both ends of the court.

Antetokounmpo played his first 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. He is a 10-time All-Star, a nine-time All-NBA player and two-time regular season MVP. Antetokounmpo also led the 2020-21 Bucks to an NBA championship capped by his 50-point performance in Game 6 of the NBA Finals en route to NBA Finals MVP honors.
After nearly a decade-and-a-half in Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo was ready for a new challenge and desired a move to a team closer to a championship. He found one in the Miami Heat, who acquired him and Bobby Portis in a blockbuster deal.
Now Antetokounmpo is teaming up with Adebayo, an amazing player in his own right at the peak of his career. Adebayo is a three-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA Defensive Team member who is a significant matchup problem on both ends.
The duo can certainly lead Miami to greater heights after last season ended in a play-in tournament loss.
Otherwise, Antetokounmpo seems to be enjoying the warmer weather.
"It's been fun," Antetokounmpo said. "I'm enjoying the warm weather. It's good for my knees and back and my joints. It's a big change for me but change is good. I've been having fun."
Miami has a good challenge early when the team hosts the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
