Michael Jordan 'Last Dance' Game-Worn Jersey Becomes Most Expensive in NBA History with Record Sale

Michael Jordan is still setting records 28 years after his "Last Dance" season with the Chicago Bulls.

Well, memorabilia tied to His Airness is at least.

Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico reported Jordan's Game 3 jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals victory over the Utah Jazz sold for a record $12.3 million through the auction platform Joopiter, which was founded by musician Pharrell Williams.

The previous record sale price for an NBA jersey was Jordan's Game 1 jersey from that same series, which sold for $10.1 million in 2022.

Still, both numbers are well behind the highest price for any sports jersey, which was Babe Ruth's "called shot" one from the 1932 World Series that sold for a stunning $24.1 million in 2024.

"I've always felt like when I own these things, I'm a steward of a piece of history," Rob Gough, who was the seller, said of the latest Jordan jersey to sell at a record price.

Chicago cruised to a 96-54 victory in Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals in a contest that stood out from the rest of the series. The other five games were decided by five points or less, including the decisive Game 6 when Jordan hit the winning shot in a one-point victory.

The Hall of Famer played just 32 minutes in the Game 3 blowout and finished with a game-high 24 points.

The series was Jordan's final one with the Bulls, and he fittingly played the role of hero in Game 6 with a late steal and jumper to secure his sixth championship. It was the third straight title in his second threepeat with the first coming from 1991-93.

And now one of the jerseys he wore during that series sold for more than $12 million.
