Oregon's Dan Lanning Mocks USC's Juice Box Celebration on Video, 'It's a Fake Energy'

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning doesn't have time for USC's juice box celebration.

In a video posted by Oregon featuring Lanning delivering a message in practice leading up to the showdown between the Big Ten rivals (starts at 2:00 mark), the Ducks coach dismissed the juice boxes because "it's a fake energy" that "ain't real."

Lanning used the juice boxes to explain how the Trojans create their energy on the field. USC broke out a big "juice box" during its season-opening win over San Jose State.

They have remained a staple on the Trojans' sidelines since then. Head coach Lincoln Riley told reporters on Sept. 8 that players did feel a boost from having them around.

"The energy on our sidelines is real," Riley said. "You feel that from our guys. Our team feels it. No matter what atmosphere we play in — whether it's home, whether it's on the road, no matter how the game's going, our mindset is that we bring our own energy wherever we play."

Unfortunately, the juice may have run out of the boxes at some point during Saturday's game. Oregon earned a 41-27 victory at the Coliseum, handing the Trojans their first home loss since Nov. 30, 2024.

It was a much-needed win for an Oregon team that looked sluggish to start the season, including a 39-31 loss to Oklahoma State on Sept. 12. A second loss would have left it a huge climb to get back into playoff contention.
