After all, New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns looked slim during Monday's media day ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season. He told reporters "my wife thought I looked good" and that the weight loss "keeps him young."

It was a big offseason for Towns, as he married Jordyn Woods in Malibu at a ceremony that included teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart as guests.

"I couldn't have a wedding without Larry," he said Monday while revealing he brought the championship trophy on dates with him as well.

The Knicks earned that trophy by defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals in five thrilling games. They overcame double-digit deficits, won Game 4 with a thrilling OG Anunoby tip at the buzzer and ended a championship drought for the franchise that dated back to 1973.

Towns' defense on Victor Wembanyama and double-double average of 13.0 points and 10.6 rebounds a night in the series played a major role in the championship and made him a Knicks legend forever.

But he is not signed forever, as this is the final season of his contract before a 2027-28 player option.

He told reporters Monday "there's no comfortability to be had," when discussing whether he was comfortable with contract talks going into the regular season.

Towns' contract status figures to be a major storyline as the Knicks look to defend their title during a new campaign that starts Oct. 20 against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Still, it would be anything but surprising if he and the team eventually come to terms on a deal, as he is a primary reason the Knicks are atop the NBA mountaintop.
