No. 13 Penn State Upset by Wisconsin After Blowing 17-Point Lead, Final Box Score Stats and Reaction

No. 13 Penn State football blew a 17-0 first-half lead and a 20-10 edge in the final four minutes en route to a 24-20 home loss to Wisconsin on Saturday.

Wisconsin quarterback Colton Joseph fired touchdown passes to Eugene Hilton Jr. (11 yards, with 3:31 left) and Jacob Harris (72 yards, with 1:13 remaining) to turn a 20-10 fourth-quarter deficit into a 24-20 lead.

The Badgers were in serious trouble on the drive leading to the Harris score and faced a 2nd-and-19 on their own six-yard line. However, Joseph hit Darrion Dupree for 25 yards before connecting with Harris for the game-winning score.

Penn State had a minute-and-change to drive down the field and got as far as the Wisconsin 29-yard line but could not go any further after a sack and three incomplete passes led to time running out.

It's a signature win for Wisconsin, which has rebounded from a 41-13 season-opening loss to Notre Dame with three straight victories against Western Illinois (36-9), Eastern Michigan (54-10) and PSU. Led by Joseph, the offense caught fire down the stretch, and the defense held Penn State to just three points in the second half.

Conversely, it's a brutal loss for Penn State. The Nittany Lions offense sputtered without star receiver Koby Howard (12 catches, 344 yards, two scores), who is dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Penn State's defense was stellar for much of the game, but Wisconsin authored touchdown drives of 75 and 85 yards over the final seven minutes.

Saturday marked the the first loss of the Matt Campbell era. PSU outscored Marshall, Temple and Buffalo 127-22 across its first three games, but the Big Ten opener did not go well.

Penn State will now visit Northwestern on Friday evening. Wisconsin will host Michigan State on Saturday afternoon.
