Steve Sarkisian Calls Out Colin Simmons for Miming Urinating During Celebration in Texas' Win

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian wasn't a fan of defensive end Colin Simmons utilizing a sack celebration in which he pretended to urinate during the No. 1 Longhorns' 20-17 win over No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday.

"It can't happen," Sarkisian told reporters after the game. "That's a bad football play. We had harped and talked about this game, about not getting emotional with the crowd. That was an emotional play. We had a couple others that were close too, so we had a real talk about it at halftime. About how we needed to play in the second half, we needed to celebrate with one another."

Simmons received a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for the celebration, which occurred after he took down Volunteers quarterback Faizon Brandon in the second quarter of the contest.

While the sack occurred on third down and would have forced a Tennessee punt, the penalty kept the drive alive. The Volunteers moved into Texas' territory on the same possession, but ultimately turned the ball over on downs.

The Longhorns led 10-3 at the time.

Tennessee later tied the game in the third quarter, although Texas moved back in front with a field goal and eventually held on for the win to stay unbeaten at 4-0.

Despite the penalty, Simmons put together a dominant performance in the victory.

He finished with five sacks, tying the all-time single-game record for the program (h/t ESPN's Peter Burns). Simmons recorded back-to-back sacks in the third quarter of the contest, but didn't celebrate after either play.

The 20-year-old has continued to serve as a key piece of Texas' defense this year after amassing 12 sacks in 2025. He racked up four tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks across three games heading into Saturday's action.

Simmons was listed as the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2027 NFL draft class on the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
