The Baylor Bears improved to 3-1 on the season Saturday with a 23-13 win over the Colorado Buffaloes at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas.

Head coach Deion Sanders' Buffaloes were 9.5 underdogs on the road Saturday, per FanDuel, and they were unable to pull off the upset.

Although he experienced some ups and downs throughout the game, Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway persevered and put the Bears up for good with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jadon Porter with 9:02 left in the fourth quarter:

In addition to improving to 3-1 overall, the Bears are now 1-0 in conference play this season, while the Buffs are 2-2 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 action. Here is a rundown of the current Big 12 standings:

Colorado took an early 3-0 lead late in the first quarter, but they did not score again until the closing minutes of the third quarter.

After a field goal to tie it early in the second quarter, Lagway gave Baylor a 10-3 lead entering halftime with a three-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Freeman:

Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis went 11-of-16 for 75 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions during the first half, and that clearly was not up to Coach Prime standards, as he pulled Lewis in favor of Isaac Wilson to start the second half.

A third-quarter field goal extended the Baylor lead to 13-3 before Wilson led a field goal drive of his own late in the third.

The brother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson then threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Williams early in the fourth quarter to tie the game:

Baylor answered on the ensuing drive, though, with the 33-yard scoring strike from Lagway to Porter, and the Bears later added a 54-yard field goal by Rhett Armstrong with 4:28 left in the game for insurance.

The Bears essentially put the game away on Colorado's next drive when Garrick Ponder stripped running back JaQuail Smith and Baylor recovered the fumble.

After opening the season 2-0, Colorado has now lost back-to-back games, while Baylor has won three in a row following a 17-16, season-opening loss to Auburn.

Colorado will look to get back on track next Saturday when it hosts No. 11 Texas Tech, while Baylor will attempt to continue its recent roll on the road against Arizona State.
