Deion Sanders Reveals 'A Few Guys' Are No Longer on Colorado Roster After Northwestern Blowout Loss

Colorado coach Deion Sanders didn't take the team's 41-7 loss to Northwestern lightly.

Sanders told reporters Tuesday that "a few guys" have been dismissed from the team. He elaborated slightly and said they were removed for conduct detrimental to the team:

Sanders famously set the tone for his tenure during his first team meeting after getting hired in December 2022. He told the assembled group of players that "I'm bringing my luggage with me and it's Louis (Vuitton)."

Coach Prime made it clear he expected a certain set of standards, and anybody who didn't meet them would be surplus to requirements.

Dismissing players after the season kicked off will always raise some questions, though. This may reflect the increased pressure Sanders is feeling after a 3-9 finish in 2025.

The Buffaloes are still generating some excitement around Boulder, but the buzz isn't anywhere close to what it was when Coach Prime arrived. The results have to follow at some point. Heading into Year 4 of the Sanders era, Colorado is 18-22 with him at the helm.

Beating Georgia Tech 14-13 in the opener was encouraging, but getting hammered by Northwestern will have some fans wondering whether they're in for more of the same. The Buffs committed four turnovers and gave up 423 yards.

Sanders didn't disclose who got the boot. Their identities may be clear when Colorado walks onto the field Saturday to play Baylor.
