No. 9 Texas A&M Upset by Kentucky as Fans React to Looming AP Top 25 Poll Rankings Shakeup

No. 9 Texas A&M is about to tumble down the rankings.

The Aggies were upset by Kentucky on Saturday, 31-21, a loss shocking on multiple levels. A ranked team falling at home against a Wildcats team that was just waxed by Alabama, and trailing by as many as 21 points in the second half?

Nobody saw it coming, except maybe Wildcats head coach Will Stein:

And as you might imagine, fans and pundits alike had some thoughts on the matter:

The Aggies did show life in the fourth quarter, putting up 14 points, but it was too little, too late.

Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey was fantastic on Saturday, finishing 14-of-18 for 252 yards and two scores, while CJ Baxter rushed for 87 yards and two scores and also caught a pass for 28 yards.

It was less of a night to remember for Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed, who finished with 236 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions through the air, though he did rush for 80 yards and a score.

But the Aggies' defense will also face some serious questions after allowing Kentucky to score on their first four drives in the second half, turning a 7-7 deadlock at halftime into a comfortable Wildcats' lead.

It's also the sort of loss that puts any College Football Playoff hopes in jeopardy. Texas A&M will face LSU next week and still has matchups against ranked opponents in Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas on the schedule as well. It's quite the SEC gauntlet, and Saturday's loss is going to cast extreme doubts on the Aggies' ability to navigate it.
