The joke is a reference to the mid-2010s rivalry between the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers. Thos teams met in the playoffs three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018, with LeBron James and the Cavs winning all three matchups.
Two of them ended in four-game sweeps, leading to ESPN announcer Mark Jones saying in Game 2 of the 2018 Eastern Conference semifinals that "we'll be back to LeBronto for the fourth quarter" as the network was going to commercial.
Lowry and the Raptors did eventually get their NBA championship during the 2018-19 season with Kawhi Leonard leading them past the Golden State Warriors.
A 20-year NBA veteran, Lowry retired in July by signing a one-day contract with Toronto where he played nine seasons. The Raptors held a block party on Saturday to celebrate his career and interact with fans.
The Raptors will retire Lowry's No. 7 jersey during a game against James and the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 10.
