
Sam Leavitt Injury Update, Latest on LSU QB Ahead of Ole Miss' Revenge Game vs. Lane Kiffin
LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt was listed on Wednesday's SEC injury report as doubtful for the No. 7 Tigers' game against No. 8 Ole Miss on Saturday, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Leavitt is dealing with a sore throwing shoulder, according to On3.com's Pete Nakos.
CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz also reported that the signal-caller didn't throw at practice on Wednesday.
The upcoming SEC matchup carries additional intrigue in 2026, as LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is set to travel to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the first time since leaving Ole Miss to become head coach of the Tigers during the 2025 season.
The Rebels opened their 2025 campaign with an 11-1 record under Kiffin and were headed towards a College Football Playoff appearance, although he departed the school to sign a seven-year contract worth $91 million with LSU.
Pete Golding took over at Ole Miss following Kiffin's exit, ending the season with a 13-2 record while advancing to the CFP semifinals.
Both schools have started this year at 2-0.
Leavitt has appeared in each of LSU's first two games, completing 62.1 percent of his throws for 574 yards and two touchdowns while getting picked off four times. He's also rushed for 135 yards and five scores, averaging 5.9 yards per attempt.
If Leavitt isn't able to play on Saturday, Landen Clark and Husan Longstreet are candidates to start under center for Kiffin's program.
Clark made brief appearances in both of LSU's games this season after transferring from Elon, finishing 7-of-10 for 109 yards and one touchdown. As for Longstreet, he's a redshirt freshman who transferred to the Tigers from USC.
Regardless of LSU's starting quarterback, the Tigers will look to find success against an Ole Miss secondary that has struggled to begin the year. The Rebels own the second-worst pass defense in the SEC by allowing 243 yards per game through the air.
Kickoff between LSU and Ole Miss on Saturday is at 7:30 p.m. ET.
