Notre Dame really found its offensive rhythm in the second half with a quartet of long scoring drives.
Carr led the Irish on a nine-play, 70-yard drive and an eight-play, 75-yard drive, both of which resulted in rushing touchdowns from Aneyas Williams.
Notre Dame outscored Wisconsin 28-3 in the second half. That was a welcome bit of success after a slow first half.
Carr led the Irish on one touchdown drive in the opening half, which ended in a three-yard touchdown pass to James Flanigan.
The other first-half drives resulted in three punts and two field goals.
Carr finished off his night with a garbage-time touchdown pass to Nolan James Jr., who was one of two Irish wide outs to catch four passes. Jordan Faison was the other.
Carr's season-opening line was almost exactly the same as the 19-completion, 221-yard performance he opened last season with in a higher-profile game against the Miami Hurricanes.
Miami is the matchup Notre Dame will build-up to for the first two months of the regular season. The November 7 clash with the Hurricanes is expected to be one of the games of the year.
Before that, the Irish have to take things game by game, starting with a Week 2 home clash with the Rice Owls.
