Jayden Maiava Dazzles, Final Box Score Stats, Highlights, Draft Stock from USC Win vs. Fresno State

Jayden Maiava dazzled in the USC Trojan's dominant 39-0 shutout over the Fresno State Bulldogs on Friday, making the Trojans the first team this season to secure two victories

USC entered Friday as a heavy 21.5-point favorite, per FanDuel Sportsbook, after a Week 0, 42-26 victory over the San Jose State Spartans, living up to the hype behind its seasoned quarterback.

Heading into halftime at home, Maiava and the Trojans had put 30 points on the scoreboard behind a clean first half from their senior quarterback, who accounted for three touchdowns while completing 94 percent of his passes.

Maiava was pulled after one unsuccessful drive in the third quarter, following an impressive Week 1 showing.

Prior to Week 0 action and USC's 16-point victory over the Spartans, ESPN's Jordan Reid projected Maiava to be selected in the third round of the 2027 NFL draft, alongside a handful of other notable picks, including LSU's Sam Leavitt and Oklahoma's John Mateer.

Meanwhile, on Friday, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. projected at least five quarterbacks to be selected in the first round, including the USC quarterback.

"Beyond Moore and Manning, I feel most solid on Notre Dame's CJ Carr, Miami's Darian Mensah and USC's Jayden Maiava going Day 1 ... right now," Kiper wrote.  

With an impressive half and then some, Maiava only saw his stock rise before he was sent to the bench for the remainder of the game, allowing the Trojans to ride out the rest of the victory.

Maiava and the Trojans opened the game with an 82-yard, 12-play drive that ended with a short connection from Maiava to Tanook Hines for a touchdown.

USC's defense came up big on the following play, coming away with an interception, but the Trojans could not turn it into points, fumbling to close out the first quarter.

Maiava found Trent Mosley twice for touchdowns in the second quarter before Waymond Jordan rushed up the middle for a score, giving the Trojans a 30-0 lead. 

Meanwhile, the USC defense stood tall, forcing two punts, a safety and a fumble in the frame.

Maiava was pulled after USC fumbled the ball with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter, and freshman Jonas Williams stepped in for the remainder of the game.

Looking to build on its momentum, USC will host the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns next Saturday.
