Stephen Curry Talks Warriors Future, Contract Talks amid Ahead of Final Year of Deal

Stephen Curry is entering the final season of his current contract, but he has no plans to leave the Golden State Warriors.

"There's no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I'm pretty sure that's going to happen," he said, per Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Johnson explained the future Hall of Famer is eligible to sign a maximum extension of two years and $136.7 million since he can no longer be under contract for more than three years due to the NBA's Over-38 Rule.

He is set to be the highest-paid player in the league on an annual basis at $62.6 million for the 2026-27 campaign.

"The deal and the contract stuff will happen at the right time, and we're not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season, and the fact that the team we're coming back with has a lot of familiarity," Curry said.

His long-term future figures to be a storyline since he is entering his age-38 season. What's more, injuries limited him to just 43 games during the 2025-26 campaign, which is a major reason the Warriors settled for the play-in tournament before their eventual elimination.

Golden State has players such as Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Kristaps Porziņģis on the roster heading into the 2026-27 season, but its overall ceiling will still depend on whether Curry can remain healthy and one of the best players in the league.

But even if he doesn't and the Warriors struggle to compete with the best teams in the Western Conference, it is difficult to imagine the all-time great suiting up for another team.

His resume includes four championships, two league MVPs, 11 All-NBA selections, 12 All-Star Game nods and a spot on the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. He will forever be a Warriors legend and plans on remaining with the only NBA team he has ever known for the rest of his career.
