USC Will Grant Town a Transfer

Coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed Town will transfer, via the Trojans official Twitter account. 

It's particularly fascinating because Town hasn't even appeared in a game for USC. Since he signed a letter of intent with the school, however, he'll have to sit out a year before he can play for another program, per Michael Casagrande of AL.com.

It's not the first time he's flipped programs, as he was initially committed to Alabama before decommitting in January of 2014.

247Sports lists Town as a 4-star recruit and the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2015. He was expected to be a future star for the Trojans, so Sunday's news surely comes as a shock for the team and its supporters, especially after he participated in spring practices and with the regular season now just weeks away.

He likely would have sat out for a year with USC as a redshirt freshman in 2015 as Cody Kessler has a hold on the starting gig. If Town didn't see a future with the Trojans, transferring now rather than redshirting and losing another season due to changing programs certainly would have made sense.
