Watching the game for Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday, pundit Chris Kamara provided the player's reaction: "He's absolutely going crazy. ... He can't believe it. He doesn't know why he got sent off for that."
Following the game, Adrian commented on the incident on Twitter:
Despite the keeper's protests, a red card was fully deserved, and Adrian will now sit out three matches.
Ironically, OptaJoe had noted prior to the game the Spaniard's consistency in goal for West Ham:
The 28-year-old will now miss games against Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Adrian's replacement will most likely be Darren Randolph, who has just one Premier League appearance to his name. West Ham's Premier League campaign got off to the best of beginnings when they beat Arsenal, but Adrian's suspension could derail their start to the season.
