JuJu Smith-Schuster Reportedly Released by Giants After Najee Harris Contract, Top Landing Spots
After spending the offseason with the New York Giants, JuJu Smith-Schuster is heading to free agency.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team released the veteran wide receiverโwho has been battling a knee injuryโon Tuesday after signing running back Najee Harris.
With Smith-Schuster on his way out of New York, the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders jump out as potential landing spots.
Smith-Schuster, 29, spent the last two seasons with the Chiefs and was a reliable option for most of his tenure. Last year, he had 345 yards and a touchdown on 33 receptions.
Considering his familiarity with the team, returning to Kansas City could be the best move for Smith-Schuster. The Chiefs aren't exactly deep in the wide receiver room, so they'd almost certainly have a roster spot waiting for him if he's interested.
The Dolphins likewise could use some veteran depth after Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill's departures this offseason. As it stands now, Miami's starting receivers brought in a combined 520 receiving yards last year, so there isn't exactly any premier talent on the roster.
Smith-Schuster wouldn't be a season-altering signing, but he'd give the Dolphins at least one more option.
The Raiders have a star in the making in Brock Bowers, but their receiver group isn't that strong heading into the 2026 campaign. Considering Las Vegas isn't rich with salary cap money, picking up Smith-Schuster on an affordable deal would be a safe signing.
However, any team that considers signing Smith-Schuster will have to do so knowing it's a bit of a health risk. He's been dealing with a knee injury during training camp, and that's not ideal for an aging receiver who has already lost a bit of explosiveness.
