Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Rodriguez's Wedding Venue Revealed, How Does It Compare to Taylor Swift?

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez certainly could have gotten married as part of an elaborate wedding in a luxurious destination given their combined fame.

But they instead chose to have an "intimate" wedding at their new home in Cascais, Portugal, on Aug. 11.

"This will be no Dua Lipa– or Taylor Swift–style blowout," Gaby Wood of Vogue wrote while referencing the latter's wedding ceremony to Travis Kelce that took place in Madison Square Garden. "Instead, the couple, who have over 750 million Instagram followers between them, will marry in their living room."

Rodríguez explained her mindset when it came to choosing the wedding venue.

"When I was a little girl, I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds," she said. "And now I'm saying: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home. Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: We have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate—that's more unusual for us."

The Aug. 11 date was not by accident, as it was the 10th anniversary of the day the couple first met in Madrid.

"We've chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives," Rodríguez said. "In 30 years' time I want the children to think, something wonderful happened at this table—the wedding vows of our parents."

As for Ronaldo, the wedding brings his future on the soccer field even more into focus.

"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," he said. "I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one."

He was on soccer's grandest stage this summer when he took the field for Portugal during the 2026 World Cup.

The legendary player confirmed it would be his final World Cup, which ended in the round of 16 with a 1-0 loss to Spain. Spain ended up winning the World Cup with a victory over Lionel Messi and Argentina.

For his part, Ronaldo scored three goals in the World Cup. Two of them came in a group stage win over Uzbekistan.

While the 41-year-old is no longer at the peak of his career, he is widely considered one of the greatest players in the sport's history. It was his record sixth World Cup appearance with the first one coming back in 2003.

But now he is starting to shift his focus to life after soccer, especially after his wedding.
