Nebraska Reveals Blackout Jerseys for Halloween Game vs. Washington in Epic New Hype Video

Nebraska is bringing back the blackout jerseys for the 2026 season.

The Cornhuskers announced in a video the "darkness returns" for their Halloween matchup against Washington at Memorial Stadium.

Nebraska adopted the "blackshirts" nickname for its defense back in 1964. The moniker has stuck with the program ever since, leading to the addition of an alternate black jersey starting in 2009.

The Cornhuskers kept the black jerseys out of rotation for a four-year period from 2021 to '24 before bringing them back last season for a matchup against USC.

Nebraska is running it back again this year for an Oct. 31 showdown with Washington. It's the first matchup between the two programs since 2011.
