Russell Westbrook's Retirement Has NBA Fans Reflecting on Iconic Eras Nearing an End

Russell Westbrook's stellar NBA career officially came to an end after he announced his retirement in a social media video on Wednesday.

Westbrook isn't the only accomplished point guard to retire this year, as Chris Paul also confirmed that he was stepping away from the sport on Feb. 13.

With Westbrook and Paul now among the former NBA players that thrived from the late 2000s through the 2010s, fans reflected on the top stars and teams during that era.

Westbrook amassed nine All-Star selections, nine All-NBA appearances, two All-Star MVP awards and two scoring titles. He was named MVP for the 2016-17 season.

He ranks No. 1 in NBA history with 209 total triple-doubles, averaging a triple-double in four different seasons of his career. No other player has accomplished the feat in more than one year.

Westbrook ended his career with averages of 20.9 points, 8.0 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field. He holds the No. 14 spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
