LaNorris Sellers 'Looks Like Superman on the Field' At Times, Says CFB Insider Ahead of SC's Season

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers drew a comparison to the Man of Steel as he heads into his junior season with the Gamecocks.

The Athletic's Bruce Feldman spotlighted Sellers as part of his annual list of the standout athletes in college football.

"At times, Sellers looks like Superman on the field," Feldman said. "Clemson had a D-line full of NFL talent, and Sellers ran around and through each of them two years ago in a big road win for the Gamecocks against their arch-rival."

In that victory, Sellers threw for 164 yards and ran for another 166 yards and two touchdowns.

Thanks in part to that performance, the hype surrounding Sellers in 2025 was through the roof. He was an outside candidate for the Heisman Trophy and considered a potential first-round pick in the NFL draft.

Sellers fell well short of those expectations. He finished with 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions through the air, and his rushing numbers suffered from the Gamecocks allowing the sixth-most sacks (43) in the FBS. He had just 270 yards and five scores on the ground.

The arrival of Kendal Briles as offensive coordinator could help to get Sellers' development back on track.

"Kendal will make it a little bit more friendly," one SEC defensive coordinator told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg. "He's not going to force him to be something he's not, which I felt like at times he was last year. They've got to try to win games. You're not a pocket passer. The best thing you do is take off and run, because no one can tackle you."

Should Sellers rebound, it will go a long way toward South Carolina notching its first 10-win season since 2013, and that would put the Gamecocks squarely in the College Football Playoff discussion.
