2026-27 NBA Schedule Release Timeline Teased in New Rumors

It appears the NBA is close to revealing the schedule for the 2026-27 campaign.

Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the slate for this season is "on course to be announced in full next week."

The NBA announced the schedule for the 2025-26 campaign on Aug. 14 last year, so a release at some point next week would keep the league on its typical track. That's worth noting since NBA commissioner Adam Silver said last month that he needed LeBron James to make his free agency decision so the NBA could finalize the schedule.

"We have to finish up the schedule and where LeBron plays affects the schedule... It will influence how we set the schedule — opening week, Christmas," Silver said. "So I need him to make a decision."

Even at 41 years old, James is the NBA's biggest star, and the league has to prioritize having him play on national television and in key games like on Christmas Day. James ultimately picked the Philadelphia 76ers about a week after Silver's comments, and it seems he didn't delay the NBA's process too much.

As for when James and the 76ers will be on TV, Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports noted that the loaded Philadelphia squad is expected to receive 34 national television games this year, the maximum a team can receive.

It's fair to assume the defending champion New York Knicks and the new-look Miami Heat will also get a number of primetime games, as will squads like the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Fans will seemingly get to find out when their favorite teams will play at some point next week.
