New Warriors Rumors on Steph Curry's 'Ongoing' Involvement in Talks with Front Office About Roster

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been involved in an "ongoing" conversation with his team's front office about the direction of the organization, The Athletic's Nick Friedell reported Wednesday.

Friedell reported one team source said "it's not like Curry isn't aware of what Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy and the rest of the front office are trying to accomplish."

"The conversation between the star and the team has been ongoing — for years," Friedell added.

Fridell's report follows speculation about Curry's thoughts on the Warriors' plans after the organization fell short of the playoffs before missing out on signing star free agent LeBron James.

When asked for his reaction to James joining the Sixers, Curry told The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II: "That's why you don't envision anything until it happens. There's a lot of moving parts."

The Warriors re-signed Draymond Green in the wake of James' free agency decision, leaving the team to run things back with an aging core still missing Jimmy Butler to a knee injury.

That reportedly hasn't impacted the willingness of Curry, who is currently set to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason, to consider signing on for an 18th season with his longtime team.

ESPN's Anthony Slater and ESPN's Shams Charania both recently reported there is "mutual interest" between Curry and the Warriors in signing an extension Aug. 29.

Slater previously named January or February as a "realistic" return timeline for Butler. Curry and the Warriors front office could be hoping Butler's return will give the team enough depth to earn redemption from last spring's play-in loss.
