5-Star RB Landen Williams-Callis Announces CFB Commitment Between Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, More
Five-star running back Landen Willliams-Callis will be playing college football at Texas.
Williams-Callis made his announcement via live commitment aired by Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
Williams-Callis, the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 3 RB on the 247Sports Composite list of high school class of 2027 football recruits, was down to five finalists (Texas, Houston, SMU, Texas A&M and Missouri) and ultimately chose the Longhorns.
Williams-Callis has put up mind-boggling stats at Richmond Randle High School in Richmond, Texas, per 247Sports.
As a freshman, he amassed 2,119 yards from scrimmage and 27 touchdowns. He followed that up with 2,392 yards and 45 scores in 2024 and 3,768 yards and 60 touchdowns in 2025.
Yes, all those numbers are real. All told, that adds up to 8,279 total yards and 132 touchdowns.
Gabe Brooks of 247Sports had some glowing things to say in his March 2026 scouting report about the 5'7.5", 190-pound prospect, who is ranked as the third-highest prospect in Texas, per the 247Sports Composite list.
Brooks called WIlliams-Callis an "ultra-productive back who boasts high-volume durability and explosive big-play juice."
He also said Williams-Callis was "one of the highest-floor prospects in the 2027 class, regardless of position" and that he "projects as a high-major impact player who should become a legitimate pro prospect."
Texas appears to have gotten a future star. The Longhorns also now have the No. 5 ranked class of 2027, per 247Sports, with Williams-Callis aboard.
He is now the third 5-star class of 2027 prospect going to Texas, per the 247Sports Composite list. Wide receiver Easton Royal (No. 5) and offensive tackle Ismael Camara (No. 21) are the other two.
When asked why he chose the Longhorns, Williams-Callis cited his relationship with the coaches and Texas' ability to develop players for the NFL.
One obvious name comes to mind in Atlanta Falcons superstar running back Bijan Robinson, one of the NFL's best talents. The Longhorns also had 12 players selected in the 2025 draft, including three first-rounders (offensive lineman Kelvin Banks, cornerback Jahdae Barron and wide receiver Matthew Golden).
Williams-Callis hopes to add his name to the Texas NFL draftee list someday, but for now, the reigning Gatorade Texas Football Player of the Year has a chance to break the state's high school rushing record, which is held by Kenneth Hall (11,232 yards) and was set in 1953. Williams is 3,828 yards short of the mark.
