Prescott is the No. 5 edge-rusher and No. 18 overall player in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2028 class. Oregon and Texas A&M were the two other finalists for his commitment.

Prescott cited the culture around the Fighting Irish program when explaining his choice to Rivals' Steve Wiltfong.

"I truly love their environment and play style," he said. "Their coaching staff is amazing and it shows off in their playmaking ability."

The 6'4", 255-pound defender was also won over by coach Marcus Freeman, whom he considers to be "more of a deeper coach valuing his team truly and on a more deeper understanding level than other college coaches do."

After watching some tape on Prescott, 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins called him a "budding edge player with exceptional physical features that should give defensive coordinators multiple deployment options."

Prescott also "flashes impressive feel as a run defender and will empty the tank while in pursuit."

Notre Dame hit a wall under Freeman's predecessor, Brian Kelly. The Fighting Irish consistently won 10-plus games but couldn't put it all together and win a national title. The talent gap between them and elite power-conference teams often shone through.

That has changed under Freeman. Notre Dame was No. 5 in 247Sports' composite rankings for 2026 and sits second for the 2027 recruiting cycle. Blue-chip recruits are gravitating toward South Bend.

There's a lot of time for Prescott to weigh all of his options and reconsider his recruitment. For now, 2028 could be another big year for Freeman and his staff.
