LeBron James' 76ers Jersey Revealed in Trending Photo, Team Confirms Contract with Hype Video

A day after he officially signed his contract, the Philadelphia 76ers introduced LeBron James as their newest player.

James will wear the No. 23 jersey. Eric Gordon and Tyrese Martin both wore that number for the Sixers last year, and it reentered circulation with neither player on the roster.

Jimmy Butler is perhaps the most famous No. 23 in 76ers history. Others include Lou Williams, Jason Richardson, Steve Mix and Joe Bryant, who's the father of the late Kobe Bryant.

Not surprisingly, James' Sixers merch started flying off the shelves the moment he announced his decision. Fanatics, the NBA's official online retailer, sold out of his jersey.

LeBron accepted the veteran's minimum to sign, which is less than he earned as a rookie in 2003-04.

For that kind of money, the 22-time All-Star could've joined the New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs if winning a fifth championship was his sole priority.

James clearly didn't want to parachute into a roster that was already established as a championship favorite, though.

Philadelphia is clearly in title-or-bust mode with a starting five that features James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and VJ Edgecombe. Working all five of those players into the same team will be a challenge, though, and it's not often that a team with this much turnover immediately makes the Finals.

That's not stopping the excitement within the fanbase to be as high as it's been for a long long time.
