Latest LeBron James Rumors on New 76ers Contact, Potential Trade Kicker After Free Agency Decision

After agreeing to join the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, star forward LeBron James reportedly has made things official.

Per ESPN's Shams Charania, James signed his two-year, $8 million contract with the Sixers on Sunday. The deal reportedly includes a player option and a full 15 percent trade kicker.

ESPN's Bobby Marks explained that James wasn't allowed to include a no-trade clause in his contract due to his short-term deal with his new team:

James announced on social media that he joined the Sixers because he feels that they give him the best chance to win a fifth NBA championship before ending his legendary career.

During the latest episode of his Game Over podcast with Max Kellerman, James' agent, Rich Paul, revealed that Philadelphia's acquisition of star guard Jaylen Brown put the team over the top as the No. 1 option ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors

"Ultimately, Philadelphia makes a move and then boom! Now you got Jaylen Brown," Paul said, per ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "Now hold on, wait a minute now. This looks a lot different."

Paul added that James' close relationship with 76ers guard and fellow Klutch Sports client Tyrese Maxey should facilitate a smooth transition to his new team.

"I think he helps everybody on that team," Paul said. "When you talk about a secondary playmaker, if [James is] your secondary playmaker, you have the best secondary playmaker in the league. He helps Tyrese in terms of pick-and-roll action. ... When you add a LeBron, everything changes. That is why it is not easy for someone who is [deemed] to be a star player on a team, when he comes, he kind of shows you how big or little of a star you actually are. It takes a special kind of person to mentally embrace that. The familiarity with him and Tyrese, you don't have to worry about that with Tyrese."

James' run with Philadelphia will likely be his last in the NBA, but he won't have the control of his destiny that he's accustomed to after not including a no-trade clause in his contract.
