NHL's Jets Troll Heat with LeBron James Press Conference Joke After Viral YouTube Mishap

The Winnipeg Jets are joining in on the buzz surrounding the Miami Heat accidentally posting a scheduled livestream apparently announcing the team's acquisition of star NBA free agent LeBron James.

The Jets shared a link Wednesday to an upcoming introductory press conference for James on the NHL team's official YouTube channel.

The Heat previously uploaded a scheduled video titled "LeBron James Introductory Press Conference" to their own YouTube channel. The video, which was set to broadcast July 27, was later deleted.

Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reported the video "was a mistake by the Heat's social media department while preparing for the possibility of LeBron picking the Heat."

As of Tuesday, Chiang reported there was "no validity" to James going to the Heat.

The Heat at least have a better shot at signing James than the Jets, which are focused this offseason on deciding whether to trade star netminder Connor Hellebuyck.

ESPN's Shams Charania previously named the Heat as one of three teams, alongside the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers, that James had a "focus on" in free agency.

Where James ultimately signs will impact more than just his next team's title hopes. NBA commissioner Adam Silver indicated last week the league is waiting for James' decision to finalize the league's 2026-27 schedule.
