Spain's World Cup Parade Celebration Details Revealed After 2026 Final Win vs. Messi, Argentina

The work doesn't stop for the Spain national team following its victory over Argentina in the final of the 2026 World Cup.

The Associated Press' Suman Naishadham reported the world champions are expected to arrive Monday in Madrid. From there, they'll travel to the royal palace and then embark on a parade through the capital city that begins near Moncloa Palace and concludes at Cibeles Square.

This comes almost two years to the day after Spain celebrated its Euro 2024 title.

La Roja dethroned the reigning champions 1-0 in Sunday's final. Ferran Torres scored the winner in extra time, sparing teammates and supporters from the drama of a penalty shootout.

The match was far from a classic as Argentina resorted to an ultra-defensive style. The team failed to register a shot on target, and goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez made a World Cup-record 11 saves to extend the deadlock past regular time.

For many, having Spain come out on top was at least a satisfactory conclusion.

This squad hasn't captured the imagination quite like the 2010 one did, the latter symbolizing the tiki-taka style with Xavi and Andrés Iniesta in midfield. Still, nobody was left questioning whether Spain was the strongest competitor in the field.

The newly crowned champs will look to retain their crown on home soil in four years' time. Spain is co-hosting the 2030 World Cup along with Morocco and Portugal.

A host country hasn't won the World Cup since France in 1998.
