Latest World Cup Final Weather Forecast & News on Thunderstorms Impact amid Wildfire Smoke Concerns

The forecast for Sunday's 2026 World Cup final looks promising after much of the of the United States experienced hazy conditions due to Canadian wildfires.

According to Weather.com, the temperature is expected to be around 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and there shouldn't be any rain.

Tyler Roys, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, told Jennifer McDermott and Philip Marcelo of the Associated Press that a storm front moved through the Northeast on Saturday and helped dissipate much of the wildfire smoke.

"There could be some lingering smoke that would make things hazy, but very faint," he said. "In terms of the thickest smoke, the smoke that has really been eye-popping and leads to poor air quality, that is not expected across New York City or much of the Northeast."

Earlier in the week, there were concerns over whether the air quality at MetLife Stadium would be hazardous to those in attendance. Sporting events across the country have been adversely impacted.

The thunderstorms Saturday presented another challenge. Spain canceled its training session, while Argentina delayed its pre-final workout.

By the time the teams are taking the pitch, the weather shouldn't be much of a factor.

Argentina is looking to be the first country since Brazil in 1962 to repeat as the world champion. Spain is going for its second World Cup title, the first coming in 2010.
