Everything Giannis Said About Heat Trade, Bam Adebayo, Bucks Exit, More
The Miami Heat introduced new player Giannis Antetokounmpo on Thursday, and the Greek Freak sounded thrilled to be joining the organization.
"The Big Three was around 2010-13. I kind of grew up in that era. I know the expectations this team has," he told reporters. "I love pressure. I thrive under pressure. I need pressure. I think to go to my next level, I've got to get out of my comfort zone, and I feel like Miami was the place for me to be. We are very liked-minded. It was a no-brainer. I wanted to be here. I'm excited to be here, and I just want to get to work."

Team president Pat Riley, meanwhile, hinted that the team is still trying to bring LeBron James aboard this summer:
"It's like nirvana for me (to get another superstar)," Riley added. "... This is just part of who the Heat are, in pursuit of excellence. You don't win championships unless you have greatness on the court... I'm just so excited for this challenge."
Head coach Erik Spoelstra also spoke about the acquisition of Antetokounmpo.
"We are hopeful this is an amazing day and run for Giannis," he told reporters. "We just think he shares so many of the perspectives of how we want to compete. He is fierce. He is a force of will, force of nature. We have big expectations, big dreams and you need somebody like (him)."
The Heat traded Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-rounders (2026, 2031, 2033), a 2030 first-round pick swap and a 2033 second-rounder to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis and Bobby Portis earlier this summer. Pairing the Greek Freak with Bam Adebayo offers the team an excellent one-two punch, though landing James would obviously bring the Heat closer to legitimate contender status.
Time will tell on that front. But the Heat are better today than they were before Giannis arrived, that much is certain.
