Josh Hart Compares Argentina to Knicks After Messi Leads Comeback Win vs. England in World Cup

New York Knicks guard Josh Hart saw shades of the NBA champions as he watched Argentina beat England 2-1 in the 2026 World Cup semifinal.

"Argentina = Knicks," he posted on social media:

It's not immediately clear how Hart is drawing the comparison, but there is a similar sense of inevitability with Argentina now that steadily built around the Knicks.

The 2022 world champion continues to find a winning formula late in matches.

Argentina's three goals against Egypt in the round of 16 all came from the 79th minute and later. That result was sandwiched between a pair of extra-time victories.

Going into the NBA playoffs, the Knicks weren't the heavy favorites to win. Then they turned into a buzz saw and swept aside everyone in their path. By the time the postseason concluded, everyone felt foolish for questioning New York in the first place.

Argentina will face Spain on Sunday in the World Cup final. Should Lionel Messi lift the trophy for the second successive tournament, we'll all be left wondering how any other result could've been considered.
