Tom Holland Explains Erling Haaland Ignoring His DM in Trending Video With Jimmy Fallon

Norway striker Erling Haaland is such a big star now he's leaving Spider-Man on read.

Actor Tom Holland was a guest Monday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and confirmed he sent a direct message to Haaland on social media. He didn't get back a response.

"That is exactly the type of humbling experience that is important for actors," he said (1:44 mark). "You're like, 'I'll text him, I'll take him to dinner.' Not even a response. Not an excuse. Not 'I'm busy tonight, I'm playing football.'"

Holland said he saw Haaland while attending Formula One's Monaco Grand Prix and thought he might as well "shoot my shot." He quipped the Manchester City forward may not want to go out to dinner anymore after England knocked Norway out of the World Cup.

Haaland was the first to divulge the interaction, or lack thereof. He said he doesn't watch a lot of movies and thus had no idea who Holland is.

With his World Cup run concluded, Haaland has some free time to catch up on all of the Marvel Avengers lore.
