Tom Brady Reportedly Isn't 'Conflict of Interest' Teased by Seahawks HC from Super Bowl vs. Patriots
Contrary to what some NFL fans may have thought, Tom Brady wasn't the source of advice to Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald ahead of Super Bowl LX.
Macdonald told Dan Patrick last week that "one guy that really helped us out that had some conflict of interest" ahead of the Super Bowl. Patrick followed up Monday to say the anonymous person is not Brady.
Brady was a reasonable guess because he's a Patriots legend who doesn't seem all that beholden to rooting for the organization in retirement. Between working as an analyst for Fox and owning a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, his allegiances lie elsewhere now.
Ahead of the Super Bowl, the former quarterback drew the ire of some fans and former teammates when he took a dispassionate view of the occasion.
Within that context, it would've made sense if Brady had provided Macdonald with some basic tips for how to approach the game.
But he ultimately wasn't the guy, and Macdonald already ruled out the logical alternative by saying he's "not that cool" when asked by Patrick if he had chatted with Bill Belichick.
Belichick isn't coaching in the NFL anymore and didn't exactly leave the Patriots on great terms. Even if he didn't provide help to Macdonald, he likely took a level of satisfaction in seeing New England come up short in the Super Bowl.
Alas, the mystery continues over which person close to the Pats in some way worked against them.
