One of the most anticipated World Cup semifinals in recent memory kicks off on Tuesday afternoon

European powers France and Spain face off in Dallas for the right to play in Sundays final.

France looked like an unstoppable machine with Kylian Mbappe at the helm so far in the tournament.

Mbappe is now up to 20 career World Cup goals and he's now expected to add to that tally in his next two games.

Spain has a superstar of its own in Lamine Yamal, but he has to raise his game to another level to compete with what Mbappe can do on the world's biggest stage.

France Seeking Third Straight World Cup Final Appearance

France v Morocco: Quarter Final - FIFA World Cup 2026

France is on the verge of making its third straight World Cup final.

Kylian Mbappe has been at the forefront of the recent World Cup success.

The Real Madrid man can't stop scoring in clutch moments for his national team.

Mbappe feels like an unstoppable force, even one that Spain's strong defense can't contain.

Mbappe is playing at a high level that only Lionel Messi is capable of reaching at the moment, which is why many fans are clamoring for a France-Argentina final.

The scary part about France is Mbappe isn't the only star attacker to contain.

Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele have had their moments throughout the tournament. Desire Doue or Bradley Barcola, who are both competing for a starting spot, displayed flashes of brilliance as well.

Spain Needs to Counter With its Own Star Power

Spain v Belgium: Quarter Final - FIFA World Cup 2026

Lamine Yamal is the biggest star on the Spain squad.

It's a lot to put so much pressure on the Barcelona teenager to win a game of this caliber, but that's the role he currently resides in.

Lamine Yamal didn't back away from the pressure in the quarterfinal win over Belgium. He was one of Spain's most active attackers and he created a handful of chances around the Belgian net.

Spain was rescued by a late Mikel Merino goal for the second straight round to avoid extra time.

La Roja can't rely on another late escape to qualify for the final. They need their stars, led by Lamine Yamal, to counter whatever France's top attackers produce.

Yamal needs some help from Mikel Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo and others, but he will be the primary chance creator.

If France finds a way to slow Yamal down, Spain could be in a lot of trouble because it doesn't have another player like him.

It sounds almost too simple, but in a game of this caliber, each team needs its best players to be at their best and make the difference-making plays.
