Hugo Gonzalez's Box-Score Stats from NBA SL After Celtics Reportedly Wouldn't Trade Him for Giannis

Hugo González became a main player of the NBA offseason after the Boston Celtics declined to include him in their trade offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo, so his Summer League performance on Friday night garnered more attention than normal.

The 20-year-old finished two assists shy of a triple-double to help the Celtics defeat the Toronto Raptors 83-80 in Las Vegas.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported on June 23 that one of the reasons why the Bucks declined Boston's offers for Antetokounmpo is the Celtics refused to include at least one of González or Baylor Scheierman in the deal.

Friday night wasn't perfect for González, who struggled to find a shooting rhythm, but his impact on the glass and as a passer was very encouraging as he prepares for his second season in the NBA.

The Celtics took González with the 28th pick in the 2025 NBA draft. He appeared in 74 games as a rookie, averaging 3.9 points on 47.6 percent shooting and 3.3 rebounds.
