Andre Iguodala Credits Stephen Curry for LeBron James' Rumored Warriors Interest in NBA Free Agency

Andre Iguodala feels Stephen Curry is the reason LeBron James might consider the Golden State Warriors in free agency, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported Friday.

Iguodala told McMenamin he'd recently been texted a friend about James' potential interest in the Warriors.

"He's like, 'Steph Curry, if he's going to get another one of the greatest players of their generation to play on his team, what does it say about him?'" Iguodala told McMenamin.

Curry made his pitch for James to come play in the Bay Area earlier this week when speaking with reporters at the American Century Championship.

"Him going into his 24th season, me going into my 18th, the battles we've had, that would be such a unique story in NBA history, in sports history," Curry said Thursday (h/t ESPN's Anthony Slater). "But a little premature right now to talk about it."

The Warriors have the $3.9 million veterans exception available to offer James, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported in a recent appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show the Warriors feel they won't be on James' list of finalists unless they are able to acquire Anthony Davis.

The Washington Wizards reportedly haven't shown interest in trading Davis this offseason, according to ESPN Andscape's Marc J. Spears.

Whether James feels the Warriors will be able to contend without Davis, and with Jimmy Butler sidelined amid ongoing recovery from his ACL injury, could determine the likelihood Curry and James ultimately team up this season.
