Tracy McGrady Reveals Jaylen Brown's Location When He Learned of Trade to 76ers From Celtics

The trade that sent Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers took the NBA world by surprise, and Tracy McGrady got to witness Brown's reaction in person.

The star forward was at an event for McGrady's Ones Basketball League when he got news of the trade. McGrady broke down his reaction on his podcast, Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady.

"Something happened down there while we were getting ready for the game…Jaylen Brown was on his way to the freaking gym when he was getting traded," McGrady said (5:20 mark). "He had no clue… And he stayed the whole time… But that's who J.B. is. If he commits to something, he's going to ride it on out. He's backing us. He's 100 percent in. I talked to him yesterday, and he's in good spirits."

Brown's name had been in trade rumors for weeks, so it wasn't too surprising to see him get moved. The shocking aspect of the trade is that Boston sent him to the 76ers, who beat the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.

"It's still weird now," Brown said earlier this week. "My brain is like, Philly? Of all places… like why would you do that?"

The move set up the 76ers to be a championship-caliber team, while Boston arguably took a big step back by parting ways with the former Finals MVP. Even though Brad Stevens said it was a financial decision, it will take a while to fully fathom the blockbuster trade.
