Tatum Reflects on Brown Trade
"It will obviously be a big change, but I think they are welcoming it."
The 76ers acquired Brown from the Boston Celtics last week in exchange for a trade package featuring Paul George and draft picks.
Gansey's comments come after multiple reports pointed toward the relationship between Brown and Jayson Tatum as part of the reason for Brown's trade from the Celtics.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported after the trade that the Celtics had questions "about the fit on a personal level, and also eventually on the court" between Brown and Tatum.
Brown has also said multiple times his favorite campaign in Boston took place last season, which Tatum spent mostly on the sideline amid his recovery from an Achilles injury.
Finding a better fit between Embiid and Brown could be key to the Sixers' hopes of making it past the second round next spring.
Embiid and Brown last went head-to-head back in May, when the Celtics went up 3-1 in the first round before losing in seven games to the Sixers.
Brown said in both a postgame press conference and on his own livestream Embiid was "flopping" during the 76ers' series win. He also said he saw Embiid as "one of the best bigs" in NBA history.
Embiid could, meanwhile, hope Brown's arrival will mean a lighter workload and a smaller chance of injury. His absence was a key reason the Sixers were swept from the second round by the New York Knicks.
The Sixers are considered a top-three frontrunner to land LeBron James in free agency, per ESPN's Brian Windhorst. Whether James feels the trio of Embiid, Brown and Tyrese Maxey can lead this team to a title could play a role in whether he chooses the 76ers over other options, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
