Deion Sanders Says He's 'Got That Swagger Back' Ahead of Colorado's 2026 CFB Season

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders had a message for the rest of the football world at Big 12 media days on Tuesday.

"Now I'm here with full strength, full energy," Sanders said, per Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today. "I got that thing back. I got that swagger back. I've got that dawg back. I got that charisma back."

At last year's media days, Sanders was still recovering from bladder cancer. Schrotenboer noted that he "looked a little weak and sometimes couldn't stand up." He still managed to coach the Buffaloes during the 2025 season, but they finished with a 3-9 record.

Sanders revamped his coaching staff over the offseason, including hiring Brennan Marion as offensive coordinator and Chris Marve as defensive coordinator. He said that he "cannot wait to get back on that sideline and do our thing" to bounce back from last year.

When asked what might surprise people about this year's Colorado team, Sanders had a simple answer.

"We better win," Sanders said. "That's gonna be the surprise."
