Vozinha Gains Over 20M Instagram Followers After Cape Verde's 2026 World Cup Run

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha is arguably the biggest winner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.

After leading the Blue Sharks into the knockout round and a near-victory over defending World Cup champion Argentina in the Round of 32, Vozinha's social-media count has taken off to more than 22.1 million Instagram followers compared to 46,000 before the tournament started.

That count keeps going up because it was at 18.8 million immediately after Cape Verde's 3-2 loss to Argentina on Friday night.

The 40-year-old Vozinha has been on the national team since 2012. He has appeared in 94 games over the past 14 years, including starting all four games in this World Cup.

Vozinha closed out his first World Cup with 18 saves, including eight against Argentina. His debut was a masterpiece with seven stops against Spain in a 0-0 draw.
