Messi, Mbappe, Haaland Lead Updated 2026 FIFA World Cup Scoring Race Amid Round of 16

Erling Haaland kept pace with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in the Golden Boot race after Norway's upset of Brazil in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Haaland scored two goals in Norway's 2-0 win on Sunday, pulling him level with Mbappe and Messi on seven goals each.

Harry Kane will have a chance to insert himself back into the Golden Boot race later on Sunday as England take on Mexico. Kane currently has five goals in the tournament, while Messi will have a chance to pull ahead when Argentina take on Egypt on Tuesday.

Mbappé claims the overall lead in goal contributions with nine, while his teammate Michael Olise leads the tournament with five assists.
