Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice to lead Spain's commanding shutout victory, opening the scoring in the 36th minute before adding his second in the closing moments to seal the win.
Oyarzabal broke the deadlock after finishing a perfectly weighted pass from Marc Cucurella, burying a shot from the center of the box to give Spain a 1-0 lead before halftime.
Austria goalkeeper Alexander Schlager kept his team within striking distance late in the first half, making a pair of impressive saves to deny Spain a two-goal advantage heading into the break.ย
Spain doubled its lead shortly after halftime when 26-year-old Pedro Porro scored his first international goal. Porro rose above the defense and headed home a cross to make it 2-0, putting Spain firmly in control of the Round of 32 matchup.
Austria pressed desperately for a breakthrough as time wound down but was unable to beat Spain's defense or find the back of the net.
Oyarzabal put the match out of reach in the 89th minute, finishing another setup from Cucurella to complete his brace and secure Spain's 3-0 victory.ย
The win sends Spain into the Round of 16, where it will face the winner of Portugal and Croatia on July 6.ย
