Latest NBA Rumors on Anfernee Simons Landing Spots, New Suitor amid Warriors, Heat Links

Zach BacharJul 2, 2026

The Dallas Mavericks have emerged as a potential landing spot for guard Anfernee Simons in free agency, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Dallas isn't the only team interested in Simons' services, as NBA insider Jake Fischer previously reported that the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat are pursuing the 27-year-old (h/t Stein).

The Chicago Bulls have also weighed the possibility of a reunion with Simons after he finished the 2025-26 season with the team, per Fischer and Stein.

The former first-round pick appeared in 55 games with the Bulls and Boston Celtics after spending the first seven years of his career as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Simons averaged 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 24.9 minutes per game during his 2025-26 campaign. He shot 44.0 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point territory.

While Simons was primarily deployed as a depth piece last season, he's shown that he can step into a larger offensive role when called upon.

Over his final three years with the Trail Blazers, he recorded 20.7 points and 4.7 assists per game on 43.4/37.4/90.4 shooting splits.

Simons also averaged 17.4 points per game while connecting on 44.6 percent of his field goals in five appearances as a starter last season.

The Mavericks may add him while they look to build around 2026 Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg, as Simons could make Flagg's life easier on offense.

Among all first-year players to appear in at least 25 games last season, Flagg finished with the highest usage rate (via NBA.com).

With Dallas looking to climb up the Western Conference standings following a 26-56 finish, Simons appears to be on its radar.
