Joel Embiid Recruiting LeBron James to 76ers in Old Post Resurfaces Amid Latest NBA Rumors
Joel Embiid tried to recruit LeBron James to the Philadelphia 76ers 12 years ago.
Now that James is looking for a home again, Embiid's old social media post has resurfaced.
James informed the Lakers on Tuesday that he wouldn't be returning for the 2026-27 campaign, so teams are starting to put together their pitches to get the all-time great on their team.
The Sixers reportedly are one of the many teams with interest in James.
Philadelphia made itself a much more desirable landing spot for James on Wednesday when it made a blockbuster trade to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics.
A core of James, Embiid, Brown and Tyrese Maxey would be one of the best in the league, but Philadelphia still has work to do to land the four-time MVP.
Several reports have indicated that James' top landing spots are the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat. How far up the Sixers are on James' list is unknown.
Until James decides on a new team, Embiid and the Sixers' front office will do their best to lure him to Philadelphia.
