Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and Gunther Hyped Night of Champions

The fans in London erupted into song, serenading Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes as he made his way to the ring for the show-closing promo segment.

"So, London, what do you want to talk about?" Rhodes asked the fans, only to be interrupted by Sami Zayn's entrance music.

Zayn touted his "ride or die fans" before claiming he was only out there because he needed to come clean. "At the end of the day, I am a good guy. I am the last real good guy around here, Cody, so I should have been better."

He claimed to regret his actions last week, including fast-counting Gunther's shoulders down, hitting the referee, and laying Rhodes out. "I need you to know: this is not how I wanted it."

"ENOUGH!" the annoyed Rhodes exclaimed, calling nonsense on Zayn's claims.

He called Zayn exhausting and said that the difference between his challenger and Kevin Owens was that KO would look him in the face and stab him, and, more importantly, at least he was WWE champion.

"You keep Kevin Owens' name out of your mouth!" Zayn exclaimed. "You are WWE champion because of me, and at Night of Champions, you will lose the WWE Championship because of me!"

Gunther interrupted next and exclaimed that he does not care about the intentions of either man, only winning the WWE title.

"Enjoy your last night as champion, Cody, because I'm going to take it all away from you," The Ring General told WWE's QB1.

Jey Uso entered the arena, the King of the Ring finalist interrupting the participants in Saturday's main event.

"Saturday night, I punch my ticket to SummerSlam and become King of the Ring."

Uso issued "warning shots" to Rhodes and Zayn before inciting a brawl with Gunther. The situation descended into chaos before Rhodes and Uso found themselves face-to-face.

That brought out Oba Femi to the ring, where he stared down Rhodes. Uso rocked the champion with a superkick, only for Gunther to flatten him with a clothesline. Zayn downed Gunther, held the WWE title momentarily, then ate Cross Rhodes.

The American Nightmare and The Ruler stared each other down, with Michael Cole reminding fans of their unfinished business dating back to December's Saturday Night's Main Event as the show went off the air with one last hard sell for Night of Champions.

Giulia vs. Kiana James, continued

After dominating throughout the commercial break, James allowed Giulia to capitalize on an opening and mount an offensive.

The Beautiful Madness took her down with a headscissors takeover, added a running boot to the face, and a side suplex for a near-fall.

Chants of "Giulia" rained down from the stands as the babyface controlled. A gorilla press off the top rope by James put her back in control, and a Falcon Arrow nearly earned her the win.

An irate James was in disbelief following another near-fall and scaled the ropes with Giulia on her shoulders. The former NXT women's champion wiggled free, delivered a sunset flip bomb, and added Arrivederci.

The Northern Lights Bomb secured Giulia the victory.

WINNER: GIULIA

After the match, Blake Monroe made her long-awaited SmackDown debut, attacking Giulia and leaving her lying to jumpstart a rivalry with plenty of potential to be great.

Giulia vs. Kiana James

Former business associates-turned-enemies squared off next as former United States champion Giulia battled Kiana James.

After a brief recap of the events that got us to this point, James delivered a big kick to The Beautiful Madness and teed off with some forearms to the face. A corner attack failed and Giulia rocked her with a dropkick.

On the arena floor, the babyface sent James face-first into the ring apron. Back inside, she added kicks to the back as she punished her former advisor.

James turned the tide and seized control, halting her opponent's momentum.

Night of Champions Preview

A video package looking at Saturday's Steel Cage Match between Seth "Freakin" Rollins and Bron Breakker.

From there, the commentary ran down the card for the latest premium live event:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Gunther vs. Sami Zayn
  • United States Championship Match: Trick Williams (c) vs. Ricky Saints
  • Women's United States Championship Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
  • King of the Ring Final: Oba Femi vs. Jey Uso
  • Queen of the Ring Final: Iyo Sky vs. Liv Morgan

Williams cut one final promo on Saints to hype their high-stakes match.

Giulia hit the ring for the night's final match.

Chelsea Green vs. Jade Cargill, continued

Green dodged a charge into the corner by her opponent and mounted a comeback, delivering a dropkick from the ropes for a two count.

She sought the Unpretty Her, but The Storm countered out of it.

Cargill delivered a pump kick and ended Green's night with Jaded.

WINNER: JADE CARGILL

After the match, the Cargill stomped away at Green before Tiffany Stratton's music played, and both her and Alexa Bliss made the save. Cargill rolled to the sanctuary of the floor, but the distraction allowed B-Fab and Michin to jump the babyfaces.

Cargill flattened Stratton with Jaded and stood tall as Michael Cole noted, "it may be only a matter of time before Cargill is holding gold again."

Backstage, Byron Saxton caught up with Solo Sikoa, but Royce Keys interrupted. He warned that Jacob Fatu is coming for him. "Are you gonna help me like I helped you?" Sikoa asked, to which Keys responded by patting his shoulder. "Good luck."

Chelsea Green vs. Jade Cargill

The result of events earlier in the show, Chelsea Green squared off with Jade Cargill in singles competition, just 24 hours before the latter challenges Tiffany Stratton for the Women's United States Championship at Night of Champions.

The reigning Queen of the Ring, Cargill, dominated early on, flattening Green as she sent a message loudly and clearly ahead of Saturday's premium live event.

She dominated and stood tall as the show entered the timeout.

Commercial break.

Matt Cardona and Danhausen vs. Los Garza

The impromptu tag match saw Angel and Berto seize control following the commercial break, weathering an early offensive by Cardona and isolating him from his immensely popular tag team partner.

Instead of staying focused on the in-ring action, though, the heels took their attention off of their opponents, throwing Kit Wilson over the timekeeper's position at ringside.

That allowed Cardona to flatten Angel and make the tag to Danhausen, whose entry into the match popped the crowd.

He teed off on the heels and even delivered a German suplex for a two count. Angel rocked him, though, and exclaimed: "You owe me money and you're going to pay for it!"

Except, he got distracted by Miz at ringside, allowing Cardona to lay him out with the Rough Ryder.

Back inside, Berto set up for a moonsault, but Danhausen cursed him, setting off pyro that knocked him from the ropes. He earned the win for his team from there, to the delight of the audience.

WINNERS: DANHAUSEN AND MATT CARDONA

Backstage, Byron Saxton caught up with Gunther, who claimed his latest match with Cody Rhodes, also featuring Sami Zayn, would end differently than his other battles with The American Nightmare.

A Chance Encounter and Danhausen Hilarity Ensued

Backstage, Finn Balor confronted Tama and Talla Tonga as they tried to leave the arena. "We used to run together," he reminded the former. Tama confirmed, but added that he used to run with Shinsuke Nakamura, and everyone saw how that went. The brothers left, leaving the former universal champion looking on.

In the arena, Danhausen led the zombified Miz and Kit Wilson to the ring, their hair streaked with grey following their respective electrocutions. Before too much fun could be had, Los Garza hit the ring, clearing the aimless heels from the ring before confronting Danhausen.

Matt Cardona made the save, and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis announced a tag team match to start right now.

Oh goody.

Commercial break.

Paige vs. Jacy Jayne, continued

Back from the break, Jayne continued to control the match, working over Paige as her Fatal Influence teammates watched from the floor.

Paige teased a comeback, but Jayne dropped her to retain the advantage. She drove the tag team champion sternum-first into the corner, then tried a rope-assisted backslide, but Brie Bella prevented the underhanded win.

With Bella fending off Reid and Henley at ringside, Paige and Jayne traded rollups, with the babyface emerging victoriously.

WINNER: PAIGE

Backstage, Matt Cardona shared some concerns with Danhausen, including a "sudden urge to move back to Long Island."

Their exchange was interrupted by the face-painted megastar realizing that The Miz and Kit Wilson had disappeared. Los Garza arrived to try and get money out of the very nice, very evil Superstar to no avail.

Paige vs. Jacy Jayne

Women's tag team champions Paige squared off with Jacy Jayne in the night's next match as the former, and partner Brie Bella, continued their battle with Fatal Influence.

Michael Cole noted on commentary that Paige had family in attendance to watch her in-ring return to her home country.

Jayne started fast, stealing a quick near-fall, but the hometown hero exclaimed, "This is my house!" and teed off on her opponent. Paige wore her down, grounding the former NXT women's champion before leveling Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid at ringside with a senton.

That momentary distraction allowed Jayne to lay her opponent out and seize control.

Commercial break.

"Good Things Happen to Good People"

Backstage, Byron Saxton caught up with Sami Zayn ahead of his match with Cody Rhodes and Gunther Saturday for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Zayn admitted to crashing out on occasion, with no one else understanding him except for Johnny Gargano, who continued to lie motionless on the anvil case beside him.

The Last Real Good Guy said that good things happen to good people and he is going to Riyadh to win the WWE Championship.

"Oh my god," he said, running his hand over his mouth as the realization dawned on him. "I'm going to be WWE champion."

LA Knight Addressed the WWE Universe

Following a preview video hyping Saturday's King of the Ring final between Jey Uso and Oba Femi, LA Knight hit the ring to a thunderous ovation while the commentary team recapped his controversial victory over Jimmy Uso from Monday night on Raw.

After basking in loud chants of "LA Knight!", The Megastar addressed the London faithful.

"As the one guy from The Bloodline that I kind of respect, I still feel he got what he deserved," Knight said of Uso before calling out the man who assisted him to that win, Solo Sikoa.

"I'm not here for a fight. If that's what you're looking for, I'm not here for that," Sikoa said before reminding him that his entire family has left him.

"My heart doesn't pump purple piss for you losing your family," Knight said before suggesting Sikoa is just going to re-enter The Bloodline.

Sikoa interrupted a fired-up Knight, exclaiming, "I hate that damn family! I hate The Bloodline!" He continued, "The only way for me to feel better is to finish them." He pitched the babyface on working together to battle The Bloodline.

Knight asked, after watching everyone tuck tail and run back to Reigns, why would he trust Sikoa?

"Because I have nothing else to lose," the former Bloodline enforcer said.

Knight declined the invite, telling Sikoa he would remain the way he has always been: by himself. He walked out, leaving to another strong reaction as the heel was left dismayed in the middle of the ring to close out a quality, character-driven segment.

Rey Fenix vs. Nathan Frazer, continued

Back from the break, Fenix caught Frazer with a springboard cutter, then took him down with a Death Valley Driver for a near-fall.

The challenger delivered a superplex and tried for a Final Cut, but Fenix countered, and the combatants blasted each other with stereo kicks, leaving both down.

"This is awesome!" chants ensued from the appreciative audience.

Frazer attempted a Phoenix Splash, but the champion rolled out of the way. Fenix tried for a Mexican Muscle Buster, but the challenger escaped and rocked his opponent with a kick that knocked him to the floor.

Frazer launched himself through the ropes and crashed into the announce table in a sick tope suicida spot. Back inside the ring, Fenix delivered a frog splash for two.

The Seth Rollins-trained Frazer attempted to get creative but the luchador caught him, delivered the Mexican Muscle Buster, and retained his title.

WINNER: REY FENIX

"I'm jealous!" Cole told Graves. "I want to call AAA!" the voice of WWE said, a testament to what that brand has cultivated in short order under the company's umbrella.

Speaking of which, AAA tag team champions The War Raiders interrupted a backstage promo involving WWE tag team champions R-Truth and Damian Priest, expressing interest in a battle between the titleholders. Hilarity ensued as Truth insisted that he and his partner were The Judgment Day, with the champion visibly breaking Erik in a fun moment.

Elsewhere, LA Knight arrived at the arena, telling Jackie Redmond he had a few things to say.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Fenix vs. Nathan Frazer

Backstage, a furious Jade Cargill demanded from SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis, and received a match with Chelsea Green later in the show.

Two of the most dynamic, explosive, high-flying competitors wasted little time cutting a frenetic pace, grappling and reversing each other before reaching a stalemate to the applause of the London fans.

Fenix gained the upper hand initially, launching himself over the top rope and wiping out Frazer on the floor as the show headed to the ad break.

Commercial break

The MFTs Are No More

Backstage, Tama and Talla Tonga confronted Solo Sikoa.

Citing his obsession with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, business the siblings want nothing to do with, the taller told Sikoa, "We talked to the elders and...we out."

Sikoa was visibly shaken as he lost his backup in the blink of an eye.

"Nobody leaves me!" he exclaimed, trying to save face.

This was a significant storyline development that put an end to a faction that never realized its fullest potential or was taken as seriously as its Bloodline counterpart.

Stratton and Bliss vs. Michin and B-Fab, continued

The heels beat down and isolated Bliss throughout the commercial, preventing her from making the tag.

She finally created separation, dodging a corner charge by Michin and making the tag to Stratton. It was Tiffy Time as the babyface exploded into the ring, drove B-Fab to the mat with her modified Alabama Slam, and added a Swanton Bomb for a two-count as Michin narrowly made the save.

Late, Stratton tried for her Prettiest Moonsault Ever finisher, but Jade Cargill appeared from out of nowhere, tripping her up and allowing B-Fab to deliver a modified neckbreaker/X-Factor combination for the win.

WINNERS: B-FAB AND MICHIN

After the energetic, although relatively formulaic match, the heels stood tall until Chelsea Green hit the ring and teed off on them with a kendo stick, hellbent on saving Stratton and further forging their partnership. She stood tall with her hopeful friend and Bliss to close things out.

Tiffany Stratton and Alexa Bliss vs. Michin and B-Fab

Chants of "Tiffy Time" poured from the stands as she squared off with Michin to kick off the in-ring portion of Thursday's show, some 25 minutes into the broadcast.

The babyfaces dominated early, with Stratton and Bliss working over Michin to start. A jaw breaker bought Michin some time, but Little Miss Bliss halted a comeback attempt.

As the action spilled to the floor, though, B-Fab caught Bliss with a cheap kick to the head, allowing the heels to seize control of the match.

Commercial break.

Tiffany Stratton and Alexa Bliss Are Reluctant Partners

Commentators Michael Cole and Corey Graves threw to a recap from last week of Liv Morgan defeating Charlotte Flair in the Queen of the Ring semifinals and Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin's involvement.

Backstage, Jackie Redmon interviewed Alexa Bliss, who vowed to get revenge on B-Fab and Michin, even if it means teaming with Women's United States champion Tiffany Stratton, who joined the segment.

Bliss and Stratton expressed their dislike for each other, with the former saying everyone knows about the latter's issues with Flair. Tonight, though, they put their differences aside and hopefully, never have to team again.

Trick Williams and Ricky Saints Kicked Off SmackDown

Williams kicked off the show by telling fans in London that he missed SmackDown last week because he got married to Lash Legend last week in Jamaica.

"There was big booties everywhere," Lil Yachty said while describing the event.

Williams turned the conversation to Ricky Saints and his United States Championship defense against Absolute at Night of Champions.

"This...is the revolution," blared over the sound system, and Saints interrupted the proceedings.

As chants of "who are ya?" rained from the stands, Saints shot back, "I'm your mom's favorite wrestler; your wife's favorite challenger."

The No. 1 contender fired up, told the champion to stop trying to be funny and focus on the wrong things because "reality stands right here before you," claiming he is coming to take the gold on Saturday.

When Yachty took exception to the idea of working for Saints, the heel rocked him with a cheap shot and fled to the ring. When Williams turned his back, the challenger caught him with a mic-assisted one and stood tall to close things out.

Setting the Stage

A video package kicked off the show, recapping the events of last week's show, where Undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes defended against Gunther, with Sami Zayn as the special guest referee.

Controversy reigned supreme, with a match restart, Zayn interference, and the announcement of a Triple Threat Match for the title Saturday at Night of Champions.

Earlier in the day, Zayn, Gunther, and Rhodes arrived at the arena ahead of their final confrontation before the high-stakes battle in Riyadh.

Also earlier, Paige and Brie Bella, and Fatal Influence arrived at the arena ahead of the former and Jacy Jayne's one-on-one showdown.

United States champion Trick Williams entered the O2 to a thunderous pop for the night's opening promo segment.
