Kyrie Irving Rips Narrative About LeBron, 2016 Cavs Title Team's Relationship in Trending Video
Kyrie Irving is pushing back on the idea that he has any issues with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates after members of the 2016 team reunited last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their NBA Finals win.
In a video posted on social media, Irving explained "we're good" when referencing members of the Cavs team and that he planned to "chop it up" with them when he gets back to the United States before calling out the "immaturity behind using media to spin narratives."
Members of that Cavs team, including LeBron James and Kevin Love, were posting videos of their reunion in the United Kingdom where they were playing golf and drinking wine.
Irving was not present at the event, leading to speculation about a potential rift. JR Smith clarified Irving reached out to them and they are "GOOD" before calling him the "greatest [point guard] I've played with."
Even though Irving wasn't present for the reunion, he did acknowledge the 10-year anniversary of the Finals win over the Golden State Warriors in a post on Instagram.
June 19 marked the official anniversary of Cleveland's historic championship. That was the date the Cavs defeated the Warriors 93-89 to become the first team in NBA Finals history to overcome a 3-1 series deficit.
Irving cemented his place in Cavs history in that game when his three pointer with 53 seconds remaining put Cleveland ahead for good.
The victory was the first championship for the city of Cleveland in one of the four major men's professional sports leagues since the Cleveland Browns won the 1964 NFL Championship.
