New NBA Mock Draft 2026 Drops from Kevin O'Connor, How Does It Compare to B/R and ESPN?

Scott PolacekJun 22, 2026

With all eyes on the upcoming 2026 NBA draft, there may be some consensus forming.

Well, at least when it comes to who the Washington Wizards are going to take with the No. 1 overall pick.

Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports released a new mock draft Monday and projected the Wizards to take BYU's AJ Dybantsa with the first pick. So did B/R's Jonathan Wasserman and ESPN's Jeremy Woo in their most recent mock drafts.

There may be some disagreement about the overall order they will be selected, but it has become clear Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer and Caleb Wilson have separated themselves as the top four players in this draft.

Boozer may be the safest pick in the entire draft as a double-double machine who can pose a number of matchup problems on the offensive end because of his ability to hit from the outside and facilitate.

The Naismith and Wooden Award winner could average 20 points and 10 rebounds a night for the next decade, which will surely be intriguing for the teams making the early picks.

But Wilson, Peterson and Dybantsa bring quite the ceilings to the table.

Only the Wizards will be choosing among all of them, and O'Connor suggested "Dybantsa has an MVP ceiling" while highlighting his long-term fit in Washington alongside players such as Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Will Riley and Bilal Coulibaly.

Throw in the openings that should come from playing together with Anthony Davis and Trae Young, and Dybantsa could be a dominant and efficient playmaker as soon as his first season.

At this point, it would be surprising if anyone else heard their name called first on Tuesday.
