Doric SamJun 22, 2026

The Notre Dame football team is keeping it in the family with its latest commitments.

During Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, class of 2027 wide receiver Julius Jones Jr. and class of 2028 defensive back Andre Jones committed to the Fighting Irish. The two youngsters are the sons of former Notre Dame running back Julius Jones, who went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints in the NFL.

Julius Jones Jr. is ranked as a 4-star prospect and the No. 12 wide receiver in the class of 2027 inย 247Sports' composite. He was selected to the Under Armour All-American Game as a junior after finishing the year with 58 catches for 876 yards and 14 touchdowns. 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins described him as a "sudden and speedy slot receiver" who "projects as a potential high-volume target at the Power Four level that can be positioned around formations and move the chains with his burst and effort."

Andre Jones is also ranked as a 4-star prospect inย 247Sports' composite. He's Notre Dame's second recruit in the class of 2028.

"It's just the mystique of Notre Dame -- there's only one in the world," Julius Jones Jr.ย told McAfee. "When I was up there, I felt it, and it felt different from what they can do for me now to when I'm done with football."

The two future stars are hoping to continue the legacy of their father, who ran for 3,018 yards across four seasons with the Fighting Irish and is the sixth-leading rusher in program history. Their uncle, Thomas Jones, also played for Virginia and went on to become a Pro Bowl running back in the NFL. In 2006, Thomas Jones and Julius Jones Sr. became the first pair of brothers to rush for over 1,000 yards in the same season in NFL history.
