Devin Booker Shows Father Melvin New Suns Jersey Number in Video, Explains Change to No. 15

"I'm blessed to have a father that played professionally," Booker said. "I know that's an advantage growing up and trying to take this sport seriously. Watching the old, old highlights of him at Moss Point, him at Missouri, rocking No. 15, it felt like a family number. His sister, my auntie, also was a hooper and she wore No. 15. The number runs through the family. So any opportunity that I could get my hands on it, I did. Now was the perfect time to switch it up."
Booker has rocked the No. 1 during his 11 NBA years, and it treated him well—he's a five-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection (one first-team, one third-team) and has won a pair of gold medals with Team USA at the Olympics.
But he said he's been trying to get the No. 15 for years, and finally had the chance this offseason.
Center Mark Williams wore No. 15 last season, but he's a restricted free agent and technically isn't a current member of the organization, freeing Booker up to claim the number. So if Williams does return this summer, he'll have a new look himself as well.
